God Save the Queen!

What a night! We went to a cell group with university students at a hostel designed for uni students - similar to what we would call dorms. But here is the crazy bit. At the end of November, all the leaders of Africa and the commonwealth will be meeting in Kampala - including the queen. So today, many of the roads have been closed causing an incredible traffic jam with an amazing amount of smog. It was very bad. They have vans that work as taxis and moped like motor bikes that carry as many as 4 people at once! They are called 'bodas'. Crazy! And people drive any where, any way they can to get through. That includes sidewalks gutters, facing opposite traffic, etc. We decided, Sam, Anton and myself to just walk to the cell group about 4km away. It was 730pm and the streets were so full on - sidewalks filled with people, bodas driving up these busy sidewalks. Traffic was at a standstill - it looked like the fall of a nation and everybody is leaving the capital city. Absolutely amazing. After a long walk, we made it to the Cell group and we had such a great time. The group was so beautiful and worship was awesome - imagine dancing and singing accapella to some great tunes. Yes I danced and yes I suck at it but who cares? We talked about character building and they were so open about character flaws and strengths.

Then we talked about marriage - requested by some - so Anton and I talked about our experiences and shared about how we got married. Apparently it struck a chord for them. What is amazing is that there aren't very many people over the age of 40 as most have died from AIDS or from conflict. The largest age group is under the age of 18 and then the next group is 20 - 30s. Isn't that amazing?

Anyway, here is a photo of me with the group. From left to right: Sam (our guide), Annette, me, Manuella, Sarah, Claire, Anton, Brian & Jean - The one taking the photo is Joz who is the volunteer photographer. I'll post a photo of him later.
